Research theme 1.4:
Education for sustainable land use
This work aims to build competence for sustainable land use. We have a two-fold focus. The largest part of the work is aimed at formal, professional education of future planners. We will integrate different forms of knowledge, experience and competence to meet competence needs in planning practice. However, education and learning also take place to a large extent informally, and a smaller part of the work is therefore aimed at methods and arenas for the transfer of values, skills and local knowledge between generations in local communities. The goal of both parts of the work is to strengthen and accelerate the transition towards more sustainable land use, and the work will actively draw on insights from across LANDFUTURES -center.
This work includes the development of teaching modules on sustainable land use planning within existing educational offerings. We will also follow good examples that promote intergenerational learning and co-creation of knowledge about sustainable land use. The modules and courses will be evaluated and further developed, and the work will also include supervision of bachelor's and master's theses and dissemination through scientific articles and professional advice to governments.
