Research theme 2.4:
Capacity for transformative planning among spatial planners
RT2.4 will translate the results from RT 2.1-2.3 into practical knowledge, tools and guidance material that can be useful for municipal, regional and national professional communities working for more sustainable spatial development. This includes professional communities in the municipalities, who work with strategic spatial plans and zoning plans; professional communities in the county municipalities that develop regional plans and that will guide municipal professional communities through regional planning forums and coordination across municipalities, sectors and levels of governance, as well as professional communities in the state administrators who also have important guidance roles and control functions.
The work will be done in collaboration with partners in Landfutures and other relevant professional communities. Selected tools and guidance materials will be tested/implemented and evaluated as part of the research at the center. The goal is to streamline planning processes, reduce resource use and contribute to plans and decisions that promote sustainable land development to a greater extent.
