Research theme 2.3:
Characteristics and use of sustainable land use management systems
We will analyze how the characteristics and practices of current management systems related to PBL contribute to the continuation of unsustainable land development, including why it is unable to stop such development. We will further analyze and discuss how the characteristics and practices of current management systems can be changed to help ensure that decisions are made to ensure more sustainable land development and less degradation of nature and other valuable areas, both at local, regional and national levels. This includes examining the interaction between PBL and associated laws, regulations and guidelines and other sectoral laws and regulations, economic and market framework conditions, national goals and international obligations. We will also discuss different ways to implement selected change proposals with relevant professional communities. The results will be communicated to the appropriate bodies at different administrative levels.
